I've been reminded to work on taking a moment to stop thinking of everything and just give my soul and my mind time to connect and to focus on the moment instead of business business business.

I am FINALLY Pain-Free
The neck video has greatly improved my quality of life. That car crash was almost two years ago and had been in pain almost daily. I have been doing your neck routine a few times a week since posted and have not had this many pain free days in nearly two years! I realized last week how much that chronic pain was making me relive that accident over and over. I feel like I've let it go and I'm very grateful to you for that.

Workouts I can do when I want
Having a membership with Matters of Movement has motivated me to get up and move. Christina is very knowledgeable and is always quick to address any questions or concerns I may have. The site is very easy to navigate and there is a wealth of information. My body has never felt better
Linda, Thriving Grandmother
Hi, I am Christina Whelan Chabot, here is a little bit about me.
I am a mom of three and we live on our farm with our animals just outside of Toronto, Ontario. My very favourite things are being outside, feeling the wind in my hair and walking barefoot.
I am passionate about movement, health and wellness. Although my love of this truly began when I wrote my first speech in grade 4 on health, professionally, it began in 1999 with my undergrad in Physical Education and Health, which lead to a Masters in Exercise Physiology at U of Toronto.
Being a forever student and lover of learning, I have since gone on to train in contemporary Pilates (Body Harmonics) and I received a full classical Pilates certification with Dianne Miller at what is now called the Vancouver Pilates Center in 2010.
I completed Franklin Method® Level 1 in 2015, 'Oov® Level 1 in 2019,Pregnancy, Postpartum Corrective Exercise in 2021 and ELDOA Level 1 in 2022. And to be honest, I can't wait to see this list expand and grow in the years to come.
We promise to help you get healthier in body, mind and soul by...
Providing the Right Information

Providing a Variety of Movement Experiences
We are all different and we all have different needs. The membership offers a variety of levels and class durations as well as class types and if you are in the mood to try something different, we have a growing library of other movement classes too, like yoga, dance and more.
Teaching Body Awareness
Why is this a good thing? Awareness of our body and how it feels and works helps us identify our strength and weakness. It also allows us to notice stress and tension and sometimes anxiety. The body will carry stress before the mind will acknowledge it.
We are committed to having an inclusive environment where everyone feels safe, regardless of gender, age, gender identity, race, health status, national origin, relationship status, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status or religion.
We are committed to bringing you knowledge from wellness professionals so that you can make informed decisions along your wellness journey.
While this is a key part of our values, we see our collaboration with our clients just as important, if not more.
We are committed to helping you along your wellness journey. Whether you are looking for improvements in your strength, feelings of wellness, balance, pain levels, mental health or all the above, we are committed to helping you get there.
PREGNANCY + POSTPARTUM - Women who are pregnant and/or postpartum require a special protocol to help them regain core control and to work to support them through pregnancy and/or help them recover. The philosophy we take is that once postpartum, always postpartum. Women often do not get the care they need in the aftermath of birth, which is why Christina chose to specialize in this area.
Pilates is our foundation, which consists of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements. Pilates emphasizes postural alignment, core strength + muscle balance. Teachings from the following four disciplines are also included
Improving functional movement is a balance between strength and control. Training motor control can reduce injury, pain, and improve performance.
Get positive and lasting change in your body and mind. Improving your movement experience starts in your mind.
PREGNANCY + POSTPARTUM Prepare for birth, maintain strength during pregnancy, regain core control and/or recover from birth. The philosophy we take is that once postpartum, always postpartum.
Create space between vertebral joints using fascial tensioning to alleviate and help fix back pain and minimize risk of disc degeneration and herniation.
The Matters of Movement Podcast are discussions about all the matters that impact our movement experience, whether it is from a social, cultural, racial, science, artistic or even research perspective.

HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I DEDICATE TO THIS?
As much time as you like. I recommend doing Pilates at least twice per week. However, the more you do the better. There are classes of different durations, so on those off days when we aren't doing a live class, you can do a 10, 20 or 45 minute class from the library.Ultimately, it is all up to you, your schedule and lifestyle.
I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT PILATES
Perfect! I have set this up so that you can start with the foundations (breathing, posture, pelvic floor and squatting) and then move to the beginner classes. I recommend following the order of these classes because they build on each other. You will be strong and capable enough in no time.
WHEN ARE THE LIVE CLASSES + HOW DO I ACCESS THEM?
Mondays in the Facebook Group at 10:30 am EST, so make sure to join the group after you register.
Tuesdays and Thursdays via Zoom at 7:00 pm EST. A link to the class will be emailed to you one hour before class. The class will be uploaded.
